US Immigration Rules For Students

The US immigration rules for students are designed to allow international students to come to the United States to study without having to obtain a permanent visa. There are two main types of student visas:

F-1 visa:

This visa is for students who are enrolled in a full-time academic program at an accredited college or university.

M-1 visa:

This visa is for students who are enrolled in a full-time non-academic program, such as a vocational school or language training program.

To qualify for an F-1 or M-1 visa, you must meet the following requirements:

Be accepted by an accredited school in the United States.
Show that you have enough money to support yourself while you are in the United States.
Have a valid passport from your home country.
Pass a medical examination.
Pay the visa application fee.
Once you have been approved for an F-1 or M-1 visa, you will be issued a Form I-20, Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant Student Status. This form is required by the U.S. government to prove that you are eligible to study in the United States.

As an F-1 or M-1 student, you will be allowed to work part-time on campus. You may also be eligible to apply for an Optional Practical Training (OPT) program, which allows you to work full-time in your field of study for up to 12 months after you graduate.
